The BRHP is a hands-on horsemanship and farm management elective designed for middle and high school students.

This course is suited for the students who desire a profession in the equine world, want to own horses or simply can’t get enough of them! Aligned with Homelife Academy, each semester earns 0.5 elective credit.

Blackwater Ranch Homeschool Program

Classes meet once a week for two hours, with an additional 8 required leadership hours (students may earn more if desired). Leadership hours provide real-world experience in horse care and barn management, including grooming, saddling, doctoring, warming up horses, and assisting with lessons or barn shows.

Students will learn horsemanship, farm maintenance, and leadership skills, with opportunities to work alongside equine professionals such as veterinarians, trainers, and farriers. Riding is included, though non-riding accommodations are available. The program is beginner-friendly but also challenges those with prior experience.
